Studies have shown that Firefox has a very low memory footprint, which aids in it's fast startup and quick page loads.

Security. The built-in Anti-Malware feature keeps you from accidentally visiting "blacklisted" sites. Instant Web Site ID helps you be certain about a site’s legitimacy by clicking the "favicon" in the far left of the address bar. Firefox automatically searches for updates to the browser, add-ons, and plug-ins such as QuickTime, Java, and Flash - which is one of the greatest security risks an internet user faces. And all these features are much easier to customize than the cumbersome security controls in IE.
